Friday here in the K C metro, a18 wheeler caught fire burning completely. Saturday a terrible 5 vehicle wreck on I-70 with two 18 wheeler's. One crashed into a car, then the other truck, 5 dead. Sunday on 435, two cars, and two 18 wheelers piled up, all BBQ'ed, 1 badly burnt person. Today a big truck burned down on 470, plus a jeep and truck crash burning down.
The heat index here around 102°, but it's getting hotter soon.

I know, pretty bad deal the people that were burned and killed. I don't know what the heck is going on.

Recap blowout season from July to August, I can barely imagine how hot the pavement became on a sunny summer day in state like Texas and all the southern state close to the Mexican country.

There have been too many deadly accidents. Those on I-435 probably had something to do with restricted lanes thru a construction zone. People driving too fast, texting, etc. I used to work in Lenexa, driving thru that construction zone twice a day; not fun. Don't go that way anymore since working downtown KC.

Let's hope the rest of the summer is less disastrous.

How do you know all the semis involved were 18 wheeler's? Maybe they had super singles and were only 10 wheeler's?

Seems speed was the culprit in the 2 semi firey crashes ,everyone wants to race through rush hour and hope for the best.
Did you ever drive in mid Nebraska in july aug. ? I did in the late 80's.
tractor trailers do not obey the stop signs on the rural highways ...on purpose
they have to or the wheel sinks to the axle on the melting, soft asphalt , it is super scary to see the near wrecks pf people not aware of this

That 435 stateline crash I find it interesting ,after the clean up they reduced it to 1 lane ,at least it was 2 3 weeks ago and seemed to narrow for big cars

I drove through there last week Tuesday morning, seemed like a nice town. Never been there before, woke up and left from St. Louis...... got a job coming up there under the arch in a museum, awesome...... Yeah its miserable heat here in great bend Kansas, all outside work too. I did see some gnarly wrecks coming through Indiana and Illinois that just happened, I was going 85 and got passed like I was going in reverse, saw the errors of their bad ways little while later.

Last Saturday we had a bizarre one in Massachusetts, a semi was pulled over in the breakdown lane with a flat tire, and a crew cab f250 ran into his tail at highway speed and instantly exploded. Accident happened at 5:25 am, and was still burning when my wife and I drove by at 8:30 after sitting in a complete standstill for almost 2 hours. Truck driver had minor injuries, pickup driver died instantly at scene. Trailer had melted and buckled by the time we drove by.
