7hp or 8hp
I need to identify this k-series
It’s either a 161 or a 181. Bore is 2.937 My thing is that when I tried a 7hp rod, the piston stuck up above the deck. So an 8hp had more stroke than a seven? I’m trying to help out a friend of mines kid. It’s a long story but it boils down to “ no good deed goes unpunished”. The kid in his excitement ordered 7hp components(.020piston and .010rod gaskets ect). I was handed a box of stuff and an engine. Nothing seems like it’s going to work out. Was in a 70. Can’t read anything in the nameplate Thanks Terry

They both have the same bore. But the stroke is 2.5 for the k161, and 2.75 for the k181.
