Default Engine blowing oil

I have a 2012 LGT1054 with about 400 hours on a Koehler Courage 26 engine. Went to fire it up for spring and it is blowing oil out the bottom of the engine a lot of blue smoke. I’m assuming that is from the oil hitting exist maybe? Does this sound easily fixable? I can’t quite see where the oil is coming from but the blow pattern is right above PTO assembly.

Those engines are known for the valve cover leaking and when it does it leaks right onto the muffler. Buy new gaskets from Cub and clean everything real good and put it back together, I used permatex ultra black silicone on the one I did for my neighbor and it's been fine since.

Would that cause the oil to blow down on the deck? Sorry if it is a dumb question . I can see the spray on the deck and garage floor just in front of the deck. The valve cover seals were replaced a couple years ago by a mechanic who used an epoxy or something other than a gasket.

Without being there to see what going on it would be hard to say. I would start by degreasing the engine to get it nice and clean which will make it much easier to see where it's coming from.

Your first post gives the indication that the tractor was sitting all winter, so another possibility could be your lower crank shaft oil seal. If it weeped all winter then of course oil would get coated on everything below and sprayed everywhere when you first started up. In any event, as said above, you've got to get it cleaned up first so you can determine the source.

Did you check the crankcase oil level for being overfilled?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
