Default New 1782 need help

Hi guys I’m new to the forum.

I just purchased a 1782 diesel and I’m new to the GT diesel world, the gentleman that I bought it from said 5 years ago he was mowing with it and it just quiet running and hasn’t ran since. So I got it home and and clean the old fuel out of it and hooked up jumper cables and the key didn’t do anything. So, I jumped the solenoid on the starter and it turned over and I heard the solenoid on the fuel work. I noticed that the LOW OIL light stays on. I know it needs a new starter/solenoid but I really would like to here it run, on try to start before I dump a lot of money into it.

This is what I’ve done or found so far, fuel pump is working when I turn the key, I have power at the solenoid when I turn the key and when I preheat the glow plugs I have power at them, as well and the fuel solenoid is working. The question with the oil light being on would will it not start? Sorry for being so long winded, just new to the group and GT diesel world. A

ll help is appreciated, thanks

First, welcome to OCC.....

In order for the engine to roll over, these conditions must be met. (A) someone must be sitting in the seat, (B) The PTO Switch has to be in the OFF position, (C) the Hydro Lever must be in the Neutral position, and (D) the Brake Pedal must be depressed. All of these devices are switches that can go bad.

The Oil Light simply lights up when the Oil Pressure is low and has nothing to do with the engine rolling over.

Check into those devices and advise.

Thanks for the response, I did check the seat switch and that was already been jumped out but now thinking about it when I do turn the key on the light for the brake pedal is on and stays on even when I push the pedal down. Maybe that’s my problem I’ll test that switch out next thanks

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
