Local cub dealer had a Oregon replacement shut off with screen. Part number 07-404. Still waiting on the rubber bung. And it was $4 cheaper at just over $7.

Tank bung part number subs out to 935-0149. Damn if it did not make it in to dealer by Saturday. They had a bag hanging up on self behind the counter right above the Oregon fuel shut offs with a couple of tank bungs in the bag. I asked to look at them. She said oh, they are for Husqvarna. I ran the part number through Mr. Google. First link was for an Oregon part number which matched the Husqvarna number AND the above Cub number. (Long number at top of bag) He he he. Steve was in bidness and for a couple bucks less than the Cub version. Slapped the parts in the freshly cleaned and dry tank, got it mounted, connected the lines, and fired it up! Yay!! After a couple minutes it coughed, puked, and died again. Boo!! Restarted it. Ran rough and died. Turned off the inline fuel shut off. Let it sit for a few minutes. Tried it again and it fired right up. Was running good. Opened the fuel shut off before it died from a lack of fuel and it loaded up and died again. Fuel pump suddenly wet with gas. All new fuel lines and clamps rechecked and all tight.
Have not gone any further yet. Found a Kohler Mag 18/ Mag 20 manual. Got some reading to do. Not familiar with these style fuel pumps. Must have been a reason previous owners had an inline shut off on it though.

Do you have an inline filter? Is it before the pump?
Sounds like junk got to the carb. I'd pull it off. The metal disc inside the fuel pump may have rusted and is putting junk in the carb. Seen this happen before. Replace the pump. |

I put the inline filter on BEFORE the pump this year after the trouble began. Then when it continued I cleaned the tank and put in the shut off with screen.
I ordered a pump this morning. Went with the Prime Line 7-08016. Just seemed when fuel line had full flow it would flood the carb. With the inline shut off/valve off it ran great till the bowl was empty.

Flooding the carb either would mean pump to strong or float not closing valve= dirty or bad valve or a hole in the float maybe?? Or poorly adjusted float

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
