Default Can of worms

Ok before I start this is not my tractor!!! My son picked up a GT275 John Deere over the weekend. His neighbor gave it to him, so he dragged it into my shop and wants to make it his cutter for his property.
It is gonna require some TLC. Before we start I want to find the manuals for that model (service , Parts, and owners). I have searched the net and can find plenty, but the prices are out of this world.
My question, can any of you guys steer me to web sights that I can download these manuals and not have to take out a 2nd mortgage to purchase them.
On a side note it will be really great to work with my son on this project since for the last few years he and I haven't had much father son time as his work and young family schedule keeps him really busy.
Thanks

You can also check out GT talk. There are plenty of manuals for all different models over there.

GT Talk has a few manuals, but not likely for that machine. John Deere is VERY proprietary on their information and will gladly sue someone offering free PDF versions, or someone not "authorized" to sell their manual. (As in JD isn't getting a royalty.) You more than likely will have to purchase them, and no they aren't cheap. Don't even bother with WFM. They have no manuals listed on their site for that reason, and won't even openly discuss manuals other than to say "go buy from Deere". Believe me.... I asked for a manual over there. Sorry man. Just how it is.

Just another reason to avoid JD.

Yeah.... and all I wanted was an owners manual for a 30 year old tiller. You would have thought I asked for a $500 tractor manual.

Still have the GT275 I bought new in 1996. It's on it's second engine now after the original broke a rod and holed the block while plowing snow about 3 years ago. I've got to say, with foot pedal hydro control and a tight turning radius, it is one of the most nimble mowing tractors I've ever been on. Mine has the 48" three blade deck. I don't have a manual for it either due to the cost. Anything I have wanted to do to the tractor I have either figured out on my own or looked on Youtube. Of course with internet information you have to filter the good info from the ridiculous.

Thanks guys for the info you offered. I found one on ebay for 24.95 in PFD format and it also included PFD of the mower deck that is on the tractor.
Thanks again.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
