Also check the rear end for loose mounting bolts and broken ears on the front end of the rear where is attached to the frame. Braces will help and fix that. I've had my 1572 since April 1987 and it has been a good tractor. I'me sure this will serve you well.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the comments. I didn’t think about additives. It didn’t even cross my mind to think about how diesel fuel has changed at the pump since the late 80’s until now.

I look forward to sharing this project with the group and plan to be more active in the forum across the board. Recently redone a 1282 and have a running 100 now on the backburner for a restoration. These cub cadets are kind of addicting!

Hopefully the injection pump isn't stuck. This bio-fuel we have now will do that. As far as similarities to a Kubota and a 7.3L..... well, they're both indirect injected, and they both burn diesel. Outside of that, nothing similar.
Speaking of key switch... what do you guys recommend? I have to order one (with keys).

The switch and the keys can be purchased separately. I bought a switch from kubota a few years back. I have seen the keys online, can probably get those from Kubota as well.

Yes, and that's the "key" right there... Get it from Kubota, not CCC. The part number is the same. Just take off the "KB" on the part number from CCC.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
