Picked up a new Z-Force
After a few choice words with my 1200 for giving me grief for the 3rd time in as many weeks while mowing, I finally decided to bite the bullet and get a new mower. It has been my intention all along to get a nice mower once I had my lawn in order (we just built, and it required lots of excavation), and for the most part it is. I was going to wait until next spring, but the 0% deals made me reconsider that.
I went in with the intention of getting an XT2 with the differential lock, as I have a lot of hills. The salesman insisted I'd be better off with a Z-Force after I explained what I wanted from the tractor. I wanted a zero turn to begin with, but my concern was the hills, he offered to bring a demo over and show what it can do. He was smart enough to load a new Z-Force S 54 on his trailer too... After he did a couple 360s on the steepest hill I have, I was sold. And I LOVE it. What used to take at least 1.5 hours with my 38A deck on my 1200 or 1650 took 45 mins on my Z-Force. I'm glad I pulled the trigger and bought it now instead of waiting til next year. Hopefully I won't be needing much help with it for quite sometime. I'll take any tips anyone has on mowing steep hills, as I have a couple, but this thing seems super stable on anything I've mowed thus far.

Nice looking mower. Hope it holds up well for you. If I ever get more money than common sense, I want a Tank for some reason

I debated going to the commercial series, but I was already spending MUCH more money than I anticipated right now. With proper maintenance and the fact it's only going to be a mower for me, no towing, pushing snow etc, I don't foresee getting anything less than a decade out of it.

The Z-Force either comes with a Kohler or Kawasaki.
the S 54 that I got has a 7000 series 25hp Kohler. I believe the 48" has a 24hp engine. The SX series has a Kawasaki engine. Some of the tractors have a Cub Cadet EFI engine too called a PowerMore. But they also offer Kohler engines on the tractors. https://support.cubcadet.com/s/article/10706-1 I'm pretty sure the rest of the zero turns either have Kohler or Kawasaki engines.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
