PTO seal failure
Got the seal in the 1650-
I've never seen a failed seal like this thing. The rubber on the outside of the seal is mostly gone and it's been spinning on the shaft or floating in there. Some seal on the inner piece- crazy how bad it is... Ok, I put the seal 1/8 inch in. Got it as square as possible with a PVC pipe fitting. Hopefully, this will keep me out of problems for a while. Now I know why the volume of oil was coming out. Never encountered one this bad on any piece of equipement. |

I'm going to machine a little aluminum seal driver ring- with a flange on it- that way if I'm ever in here again(hopefully not soon), I can get a perfect depth.
If I need 1/8 to clear the electric PTO. Can I go deeper? Michael |

You can likely go a bit deeper, but no need unless the crank has a groove in it.
How much you want for a seal driver if you make one? I'd buy one. |

Just pm me your address. If I can get them for nearly free at work.. just shipping.
Want a different depth, let me know. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
