Throttle stop
Anyone know anything about a throttle stop on the side of the carb. on a CH18S Kolher. I was told this by a long time CC mechanic, but can not remember what he said it affected as far as engine speed.

It does not affect engine speed, only max throttle opening, thus a power limit.

I can't remember if it's a stop, or a screw.... but yes, that is correct. That is the only difference between a CH18 and a CH20.

The stop is a screw on the left side of the carburetor. The air cleaner base must be removed to access. Round extended head. Move the engine speed lever to the wide open position and observe the throttle plate. If installed, the stop prevents the throttle plate from being wide open. Just remove the screw to allow the throttle plate to open.

Finally got around to checking the throttle stop on the CH18. It is not on the carb, their is a self tapping screw in the throttle control plate, that limits the throttle plate from being wide open. This screw comes up from the bottom, therefore you would have to remove the control plate to remove this screw. As my Ch18 in my 1864 has pently of power, it will stay as is.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
