I didn't even think of an electric impact wrench! Certainly a great tool to have. We've got a really old one that we use on rare occasions when we can't get the repair to the shop. It also works great for running up lag bolts in wood.

Hey Guys,
It's been a bit.. I just want to let you all know I'm completely stuck on the Onan right now. I have 2 bolts I can not for the life of e get out. Does anyone know of a Small Engine Mechanic in CT that would know how to work on these engines. I really don't want to screw this engine up and I'm at the point of trying brute force to try to get these bolts off.

Hey Guys,
It's been a while, SO I got the PTO off! The engine is now at machine shop to get measured out and bored if necessary. By the looks of it I might get lucky and just need a new rod, piston and rings. I'm having them check the journals and what not. I have a general question, I recently saw a new PTO on eBay that is supposed to be an upgrade. Has anyone had any interaction with these are they any good? They supposedly have twice the torque and run cooler. This all sounds wonderful but the one for the 982 sells for $400, while other ones are just $250. anyone know if one of the $250 ones will fit the 982? http://www.ebay.com/itm/261596929165...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

As far as I understand its a direct bolt on replacement.

Onan B48G Crankshaft Help!!!!
Hey all,
SO I have not posted in quite some time, But I wanted to say hello and ask for a little help. The shop I took my Onan to called me and they are finally getting around to putting my engine together! , However the original crankshaft is beyond repair. I had a suspicion and I had purchased one cheap on ebay for just incase. Well, I bought what was marked as an Onan B48 crankshaft on ebay last year but it does not fit the engine, it's too big. The problem I'm having is the stamping on the old crank, it reads 170-333(6 or 8). He can't make out what the last digit is. Can someone help me find the correct number, more importantly anyone have a source for a good quality crankshaft? I'm looking on ebay but I'm not sure that they are all in the best of conditions. I really want this to work and restore the Onan. If not I think I may look for an alternative. but I really rather keep the Onan. Your support is appreciated!

The P220 I purchased had the shaft cut off for the PTO so I used a B48G crank in the P220 block. It is stamped 170-3353. What is the crank # you got off of Ebay? I think I have a guide on all the Onan numbers somewhere.
DSCN2095.jpg Do yourself a favor and change the oil by-pass spring and install an oil pressure gauge on the tractor. I didn't change the spring and the engine ran with only about 20 psi @ 3500 rpm (okay but on the low side). For now I stretched it until I make another order from Onan and I'm running about 30 psi.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
