Default Snow Thrower Engine Question
First post! Sorry if this is a bit out of the norm, but I have a questions about my Cub Cadet 2X 24 (524 SWE) Snow Blower's 208cc OHV engine engine.

I purchased it in November 2016. The manual says to change the oil at 5 hours, but there has been so little snow over the past couple of years that I have only run it for about an hour. Cub Cadet support says that during the first five hours, the oil collects metal and debris from the engine. So...
  • How long is too long for oil to sit in one of these engines?
  • Is the initial oil in their engines some sort of special break in oil, or would it be okay for me to change the oil now and then again in another 4 hours?

Just change it.. I change mine every year no matter what.

It holds all of what, a quart?

Cost and effort isn't an issue. Just wanted to know if the initial oil was special "break in" oil and meant to stay in for the full 5 hours. If not, I will take your advice and change it now, again in 4 hours, and then every season.
