Default Cadet 75 bath tub

I have a old cadet 75. Has been used for about the last ten years. Briggs 6hp motor runs great, electric start. Body is a little rough on the front. Issue being, recently put on new drive belt and started haveing problems shifting once in a while. Last time out, went to shift, clutch didnt work and it stop working when I tried to put it back into gear again. I am assuming perhaps a pin got sheared? Dont know much on this thing. I am offering it up for good offer. However, in the mean time, does any one know anything about these like how to service the tranny? Heck, Id like to even figure out how to date it! LOL. Thanks. Jody

I haven't seen a 75, but check out page 2 of this 1976 price guide:

I would say they're similar to a 55 and 85 rear engine rider:

Tinkerman73:

The IH Cadet Model 75 RER was made from 1972-1975 and the IH Cadet Model 85 RER was made from 1975-1979.

Post your Serial Number (found on the data plate located on the engine deck just to the left of the engine) and I'll post the actual year of manufacture.

I don't know if it has the same tranny as a 60, but I had to take the body off of mine to get it out. Turned out to be well woth it because the tranny was completely dry of greas. Even if your problem doesn't end up being in the tranny, take it out and grease it, along with the differential. Sorry I got off track.

Tinkerman, 57130... Nope..NOT the same transmission as the Model 60. They may look the same B - U - T the Model 60 has two pedals and does not have a reverse gear in the transmission! ALL the others have only one pedal and have a reverse gear in the transmission.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
