Yeah, AvE, This Old Tony, Abom79, MrPete22, a few others. Never got the stick on the ice turn of phrase, but that makes sense. Anyway, he's (AvE) is a character for sure. Just cracks me up. Then you see him talk to his daughter when she wanders into the shop and he's a totally different guy. So tender and sweet to her. Carry on.

Update on the 106. Tested the coil to find dead short. Went to RK, picked up a gasket and screen for the fuel bowl, oil, plug, and air filter. Swung by NAPA and bought a coil, came home. Found the clutch safety switch to be in good working order. Pushed the pedal down, hit the key, and it cranked right over. Never thought a '69 model would have one of those. Hmmph. Sprayed it with a little carb cleaner, hit key. It started. Odd. Checked coil again, still bad. Checked a known good resistor. It's bad too. Threw meter in the trash. Cleaned out the tank, ran the carb screws in and out the same number of turns. Blew air through the fuel line and filled it with carb cleaner, hit the key. She fired right up and purred like a kitten!!! I put the tank back on, changed the sediment bowl gasket and screen, filled it up, fired it up, and pow! It's down to Pants 'n'at. Clutch works great, it goes, it stops, it squeaks, and the steering is pretty scary, but she's a running, driving machine!!! Changing out the fluids tomorrow, greasing her up, and taking a look at the steering, spindles, and wheel bearings.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
