Cub Cadet 582 Internal Brake

Hello, I have a question about replacing the brake pucks for a internal (wet) braked 582. I have taken the front cover off, and pulled the brake disk and front puck retainer out. My question is for the rear retainer, does it come out, or do I just need to leave it in the case and break out the old pad and glue another one in while it is in place in the transaxle. The service manual was unclear on this.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
