Hopefully it was that simple and he didnt turn it while removing. The OP didnt give much detail as to if the tractor was running fine and just started acting up. I would think if the inlet was turned that way the problem would have been there the whole time.

Good eye tho dark!

Good eye but unfortunately I turned it down when removing. I have found a couple of rebuild kits for the K301 carb from various vendors. Think I am going to take a stab at the rebuild. I have only had this tractor for a few months so it really ran strong the first snow storm and a few times in between. The video I posted was really the first indication of trouble. It has some wear on it and the more I mess with it the more I find but mostly just some neglect. I have a rear tire that won't hold air for more than a few days, just realized the front right tire is split and ready to blow. Hopefully the engine is still strong and just needs a little help.

My source is ccspecialties.org. another good one is ihccw.com. Both have tons of cub stuff and great customer service.

Ok guys, I have completed my first ever carb rebuild for the K301 carb. I purchased a new gasket, air filter and sediment bowl.

While waiting on parts I removed the tank and cleaned it out. There was some gravel like particles (very small) in the tank and I found a piece of cardboard similar to what would be on the inside of a bottle cap or something in there. and everything is bolted back together.

I followed the manual for the High Speed screw @ 2 turns and the Idle Mixture screw 1.5 turns. I am going to try to post a video but I wanted to see if everything sounds like it has been adjusted right...

If you have any recommendations, please let me know.

I think it's 2 turns on the high speed jet and 2-1/2 on the low speed jet.

That video sounds pretty good. The only real way finish fine adjustments is to put the engine under load and see how the governor responds. Put a mower deck on it and start cutting grass. Keep a screwdriver in your pocket and stop as needed to make any final adjustments.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
