2165 No Power Under Load
My dad and I are looking for suggestions on what might be causing his 2165 with the Briggs engine to not produce full power under load. One of the cylinders seems to be running cooler....maybe intermittent spark. We are going to replace plugs, filter etc ...the easy stuff. What else should we look at?

Have you tested the spark of both cylinders? Could be a bad coil.

Or a broken rod, it will run on 1 cylinder, do you have compression on the cold one?

pull the valve covers and make sure it didn't have a push rod come off the rocker arm .I've had it happen on 2 different tractors . use a pair of insulated pliers and unhook one plug wire at a time and listen for spark jumping to ground . if one cyl. isn't running that will show you which one it is.
