Default XT1 54” won’t stay running under load with PTO.

I am looking for help, I have a two year old XT1 54” that runs great but once the PTO is engaged and then put under a load it’s shuts off and is hard to start back. I have replaced air filter, spark plugs, and even replaced fuel. I installed new blades and they turn freely but the problem existed before I installed the new blades. Please fix my issue!

Sounds like it is starving for fuel. Not sure what type of carburetor that model has but It may need cleaning or part of the fuel system needs cleaning.

There are several different engines, which one do you have?

Looks like it has a float type carburetor. My best guess is it has trash in the main jet so it starving for fuel under a load.

At two years old the vent in your gas tank cap should not be clogged, but who knows?
Loosen the gas cap and give it a whirl.

Just curious is it a Kohler Courage engine? In the meantime pour a little Seafoam into the fuel tank, it'll help clean the fuel system. Good luck.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
