Default New Guy from FL

Hi Ya'll
I'm Mike, originally from PA but been in FL for the past 18 yrs. Glad to have found this site along with all the years of knowledge on here.

I have 2 Cubs that were my Dad's. I brought them both here after he passed. I have a 127, guessing a 69 model and a 2155. I've used them both up in PA, but down here just the newer one. The 127 has been sitting for about 3 yrs and it's not starting at the moment. I thought about getting it running and pass it along but it has a lot of sentimental value. I'm probably going to keep it for now, as I plan to move northward in the country somewhere where there's real grass to cut. It's still in great shape and the deck is basically new, still looks great. So I'm ready to get her back among the living.

So that's why I was excited to find this forum and to pick some of your brains as what to check or look for.

Welcome!. Clean your points and fire it up! Points that sit for 6 months are longer are usually the culprit to no spark condition.

Besides the no spark. You might want to entirely lean your fuel system before running unless of course it was properly serviced for long storage period.

I read another post on here that said to remove both wires on the coil and see if you have 5 ohms from the - to the +. I have 0 and when I remove the plug and hold it to the chassis I see no spark. The wire from the +on the coil is totally shot. I connected a wire from the + on the battery to the + on the coil and still no spark. I haven't looked at the points yet.

IF, that is what you have, then the HV Coil is shorted (Toast). Time for replacement.

Thats what I'm thinking. Found a guy on ebay with a original used one with condenser and plug wire for $25 or I found a new aftermarket for $20 with free shipping, It's for a K301. Most of the cub sponsers are looking for $30-35 and there probably the same.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
