I had the problem on my 1772. I thought I would have to clean the tank and the rest of the fuel system too, until I pulled the valve out of the bottom of the tank. I don't know what the PO did, maybe siphoning fuel out of the tank as best guess, but the filter on the valve was smashed flat as a pancake. It was not flattened and still protruding upward into the tank, but flattened and at a right angle as if laying on the bottom of the tank. I don't know how it even ran. I simply replaced the valve with a new one since the screen on the old one was clean but flattened.

Well, I ordered the in-tank filter and valve, and new bungs and that fixed the problem. It's good to have this beast running again. I was getting pretty good at taking the seat pans and tank off by this time!

I appreciate the kind help given.... the Cubota is back wrangling lawn again!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
