FIXED IT!!! Some of you purists might not like my repair job, but I have solved the problem.
I'm now the proud owner of a Massey Ferguson MF10 with a sleeve hitch, and the soon to be owner of a 16 HP Kohler powered wood chipper with an electric PTO.

Game plan is to part the 2166 and put the Kohler on my chipper/shredder with all new wiring.

Update - thoroughly convinced that this was the best fix. The incorrect color scheme really bothered me, so I repainted the engine, frame, and other gray parts to something close to MF Gray and Silver, sanded the fenders until they matched the hood, and distressed the fresh painted parts a bit to match the rest of the tractor's patina. Some of you might recognize the new seat as well, thanks to the helpful members here at OCC I practically stole it from Rural King. The new Massey Ferguson MF10 and it's variable drive has now taken over cultivator duty for the 106, which is going to take over the 2166's wagon pulling duty as soon as I track down 3 longer bolts and put the drawbar back on.
I love my IH Cubs with all my heart, and I can now proudly say that all of the tractors here at Rebellion Farms are antiques with the 2166 waiting patiently to be parted out. I am digging the heck out of the Massey Ferguson variator. Pulling that lever reminds me a lot of a Farmall T/A. I wish I could get one on a Cub, and I think that worn out JD 110 that a friend offered me for $100 might just have to follow me home.
