Picked up this 124, got a few questions.
I picked up this 124 Saturday for my kids to ride around on and play with. They like my larger stuff, but wanted something their size.
Was from second owner, all still runs and works perfectly. Original seat, tires, and seemingly paint. I want to upgrade a few things to make it more tractor like for the kids. Mainly a vertical exhaust and ag tires. I found a kit to convert to vertical exhaust for around $100, and I found new ag style rear tires, but I need help with the fronts. I don’t care for the narrow rim, I’d rather have the wider rim. Can anyone point me to the right rim and tire combo to buy for this? Other than all fluids and filters changed, any other initial maintenance I need to do on it? |

Your Kids, your money, Thats no toy however, at least not for kids of the size in that picture. Presumably, you have some large equipment and yes this may look like a toy compared to a large tractor. But Ive heard of adults getting hurt on these cubs, let alone kids. My rule of thumb is.. They need to be able to reach the clutch/brake pedal with butt fully in seat.

I agree, these are not toys!
Also, you should consider hearing protection for them when they are riding, driving or anywhere close to it while it is in operation, especially with a vertical exhaust which I assume will be a straight pipe?? |

Guys, I would hope to not be lumped into the masses of stupidity that I see on a daily basis. I’m simply referring to the tractor as a “play toy” since it won’t be doing any actual work. I’ll handle the children’s safety, but if you notice they are sitting in the seat without the tractor moving or running, and they are less than 5 years old so in no way are they ready to drive alone.
Back to the questions at hand and back on topic... |

I got my skinny tri ribs from Miller tire and was very happy with their service
Here's the link for back tires https://www.millertire.com/categorie...s/23x-8-50-12/ and for the wide front tires ( you will need wider rims with 3/4" bore ) https://www.millertire.com/categorie...res/16x6-50-8/ |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
