Model 72
I haven’t really kept up with pricing on these vintage cadets for the past decade or so.
Therefore, I’m a bit out of touch with what they are going for and I currently have a guy who wants to buy my 72 and I know what I have into it but would like some input to give him a fair price. Model 72. I’m he second owner and knew the family that I got it from.It was very well cared for. Here’s what’s been: The Kohler 161 Engine was professionally rebuilt, bored, crank ground, valve seats ground all new parts installed. Frame off restoration to include soda blasted and power coated all parts except the rear which was soda blasted and painted with PPG. It has lights with the correct switch, rebuilt PTO, creeper gear which was rebuilt, has the Brinly Hitch with spring assist lift, new 6-12 tires, cigarette lighter, rebuilt steering column, IH wheel weights.Deck has never seen rust, new belts, new blades. Runs perfect. |

As usual you never get back what you invested, so it looks like a 1000.00 tractor. But when you part it out you will get more for it.
Why sell it?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
