New guy question about 1X8/1X9 Series
Looking to buy a 149 Cub Cadet, I see this all the time "1X8/1X9 Series" are there 2 models in the 149 cub cadets?
What cub cadets are 1x8? What cub cadets are 1x9? Thanks

First 2 digits represent hp rating (10,12,14,16), even #s are gear drive (8) odd #s are hydrostatic drive (9)
There's also an oddball model 86, 8 hp gear drive

 1X8/9 means all the models (Gear & Hydro) that fall into that series. Gear Drive: [Gear drives end in 8 - even numbers] *86 - 108 - 128 [ 8 - 10 - 12 HP] Hydro Drive:[Hydro drives end in 9 - odd numbers] *109 - 129 - 149 - 169 [10 - 12 - 14 - 16 HP]
