PTO reducer
I have a 1772 with rear PTO. How can I slow down PTO speed from 2000 to 540 rpm? To run a 72 inch finishing mower. Is there different size pulleys to use on the PTO are some kind of other reducer?

You might need a little more tractor to pull a 72" finish mower,,
I pull a 72" finish mower with a JD 4105,,, (41HP),, Those front tires on the 4105 are bigger than the rears on the 1772,,, |

pto reducer
Thank you. It should operate a 60 inch. I still need to reduce PTO speed to 540 rpm for most 6 ft finishing mower. 2000 rpm rear mowers are to find. Any ideas to reduce speed?

I dont think you will find a "reducer" to do this. If you did it would probably cost as much in the end as purchasing 2000 rpm implements. Some companies offered them a long time ago. JD was one I believe that offered as an option.. How would Ol'George put it?? Oh yeah. Rare as hens teeth

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
