129/149 front PTO actuating lever removal?
I looked in the service manual and I searched and searched online...
How is the front pto actuating lever removed from the chassis? I'm talking about the ~1" diameter rod perpendicular to the frame in front of the engine. On the left hand side there's a collar over the end of the shaft. Is that collar machined or welded in place; or is supposed to be removable and the source of my problem? |

That collar has a cotter key in it.
Remove the key and the collar will/should slide so you can remove the throw out lever |

Once you get the collar loose so it will slide out of the way, the shaft will slide further into the hole and allow the shaft to be tilted up and slid/lifted out of the grill frame.

That seems to have done it!
Don't have a bearing plate small enough to go around the shaft. Vise grips gently clamped worked well enough. The collar's so thin it just didn't give enough bite to the gear-puller-jaws... IMG_1841.jpg With the oem paint on there I can't confirm -- does the wear button screw into the actuating lever or is it more like a custom rivet? My 149 could needs the wear-button but I can replace the whole shaft n' lever if I have too... IMG_1842.jpg |

it's just pressed in, friction fit.
Be careful though, they break easily. May be better to get a brass one. |

So better to swap levers than to try and remove and reinstall the button?

The one in the pic here IS the better one.
The lever on my 149 has NO wear button at all which I assume is hard on the pto itself... I have two tractors now... https://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/...ad.php?t=57087 |

yes, no wear button will destroy the clutch fingers !there is 2 buttons one on the lever and one in the end of the clutch !
