1330 ignition wiring help
Hi, new to the forum. I have a 1330 tractor that weve had for about 5 years and has always been reliable. The key was very bent and worn out and we usually left it in the ignition. Long story short we bought a newer tractor and the 1330 got parked outside, my wife took the key out of the lignition. Earlier this summer we went to go start it up and fix a few things and get the tractor ready for a new home and the key broke off in the ignition.
The wiring harness connected to the original ignition was very brittle and looked slightly melted I purchased a new replacement ignoition switch and generic 5 pin harness on ebay. The ignition switch was labeled"replacement MTD- 725-3026" I was able to bench test the new ignition and all confirm the correct pins shorted in the various positions (forgive me I tested it weeks ago and don't recall the specifics) I was trying to rewire the new ignition to the diagrams I found online but I was not sure if the schematics were drawn with the pins facing up or down, so I tried two different wiring configurations and haven't gotten anywhere with it I can Gather photos tomorrow of the wiring, but I'm beginning to wonder if there's another issue going on preventing it from starting or if ive just wired it incorrectly both times Any help with how the ignition should be wired would be greatly appreciated, or any tips on how I can check the wiring with a multi meter, or possibly get the tractor running without the ignition so I can confirm I don't have an underlying issue unrelated to the key switch |

First, welcome to OCC..........
The terminal ID is stamped on back of switch. The Ignition Switch should be wired as follows: Terminal ---- Wire S = RED (to #2 dash panel light) B = BLK L = BLU M = YEL R = RED (main supply) The case has to be grounded.

This is the wiring diagram for the 1330. According to the Cub parts site the proper switch is the "925-3026 IGNITION SWITCH This part replaces 725-3026"

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
