I used a Cub 149 back on the farm 50 years ago.

I was recently gifted a Cub 100 with creeper and tiller, and a Cub 108 with mower deck.
Neither have been operable for over 10 years. Both stored in a heated garage.
Have now got the 108 running and will need to go through nearly the entire machine and check bearings.
The 100 appears to be a lot more work as it is difficult to turn over, the front end is really sloppy, etc. I'm hoping to get her going and shop fab a front end loader.

Initially I'll be lurking through old threads here looking for clues to making this happen. I'm a machinist who can also put down some decent welds. However, that doesn't make me a mechanic.

Thanks for this forum.

Welcome Daryl. If you plan to add a loader to your 100, you’ll want to beef up the wheels and spindles to trailer hubs. I did that on my 100 even though I have no plans for a loader.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
