Ih 124
Hello All.
I have been watching around MT for many years now and literally this is the first CC of this era I have seen within 400 miles of my home. Certainly more cash then I would hope to spend but its just money, right? Just looking for some general feedback on this Model 124. Not unaware of the work involved in owning old equipment but simply" this was a decent machine but" " this was awesome but" " this one was horrible" whatever might help me decide would be appreciated. By MT standards this thing is close, only 200 miles round trip from home. I did notice the deck belt covers were missing? Thanks https://bozeman.craigslist.org/grd/d...137766720.html Ken

I would say where you live that's not a bad price. Can't buy anything new worth a crap for that money.
These old tractors are pretty simple and robust, that's why they last so long. Randy

Used light duty lawn tractors go for $550 - $650 all day long around here and all they can do is mow. That's a full fledged GT with some weight behind it. The ad does say OBO, so roll up and offer $600. That's enough to not be insulting, maybe they will meet in the middle.
As far as the 124, it's a fine little machine. The big question is, were you wanting a manual or hydrostatic? Hydros are a little bit more pleasant to mow with.

perhaps. As far as the hydro vs gear driven. My 1862 is hydrostatic and I love it. Maybe I will end up with one of each. Thanks again. Ken

Made a road trip on Sunday and was able to put a big smile on my face.
I bought a 124 with 48 inch deck in excellent working order. Also managed to pick up a 125 Hydro with the same deck in good working order. The 125 also has a front mount snow blower that will go with it and the man says it is running as well. Also a spare Engine K241AS. Not sure how parts interchange on those but Starter/Gen. Harness etc look the same. Will have to make another trip to pick up the 125 but that's A ok by me. Thanks for nudge to get me going. 1000 dollars for the package.
