R12 bearing for snow thrower gearbox
Looking to rebuild snow thrower gearbox. My inner bearing is stamped R12 and the thickness measures 5/16” but when I google the R12 everything is showing 7/16” for thickness.
Wondering if anyone else has come across this before. Inside lip in the case is definitely closer to the 5/16” dimension. |

Search for 475628R91. That will find you the 5/16 wide R12 bearing.

Anyone use Bearings Direct out of California (looks like a legit company) and have bearings for cheap. But often get what you paid for. Just bought my 1650 hydrostatic (well used) and trying to work out the bugs before I dump a lot of money into it. Gearbox is pretty shot and could use a complete rebuild (housing is the only thing not worn). Was thinking about cheap bearings and new seals to just get it working this winter just to see how it all runs—live in the Burbs and don’t have a lot of driveway to maintain so won’t have a ton of runtime on it. Possibly have a used gearbox secured but won’t know the condition on it for a couple of weeks when I can go look at it. Anyone have thoughts or insight on a cheap rebuild? |

Also was able to get the tiller working this summer and now seeing the damage that can be caused by not maintaining the gearbox will probably want to tear it down and at least check the components and get new grease in it.
So reasonably priced bearings would be a bonus! |

Good Bearing Suppliers in Michigan are:
* Motion Industries * Applied Bearing * WW Grainger * Saginaw Bearing * Motor City Bearing

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
