2082 to a 2084
Purchased 2082 with 60" Haban and blown up M20 for a can't pass it up price. Debating on replacing the M20 with a Command CH18 or 20. My question is, if replacing with a CH, rather than stretching the drive shaft, adding a 2.25" spacer between the flywheel and the CV joint. According to parts lookup, 2084 driveshaft is 2.25" longer than the 2082 driveshaft. Any thoughts on this?

I am sorry to add questions - I dont have any answers.
is the engine 2.5" shorter or is it 2.5" shorter from the mount points to the drive shaft mount? By this I mean, is it shorter on the other side as well? - if so the clutch wont line up for the mule drive or for a snow blower. and is the PTO pulley size the same? will you end up overdriving or under driving the accessories? |

Use a 2084 or 2284 drive shaft. 2082 has the 6" PTO

2082 to 2084
I haven't dug into it to far yet, only far enough to know the engine does not turn 360*, stops with a clunk against crankcase turning with a wrench on clutch retaining bolt. I was just going by lengths of drive shafts in parts lookup, 2082 is listed as 23.9", 2084 is 26.15". I assume engine is 2.25" shorter in overall length. Pulling parts suppliers make a 2" spacer for CH to mount clutch drive plate to flywheel, I have a Cyclops with CH20 pulling tractor where I used one of the spacers, that's where the idea came from. I have not done a search for a 2084 or 2284 drive shaft yet, anyone have one for sale? I have several drive shafts out of 1641, 1642 etc. 2082 is still on trailer after picking it up.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
