Hsd 2135
Hi Folks
Im new here. Im in Australia and have issue with my hydro static drive "Cubbie". It was going great until I replaced the oil and filter and now transmission wont engage. Axles rotate opposite, good. Drive shaft running. I suspect problem is drive disengage lever. I used 15W40 oil and a Ryco filter (with valve). I've redrained oil and poured back in while turning axle (advised this may resolve any air locks) but still no joy. If anyone has thoughts Id love to hear them. Regards Frank |

Welcome to OCC. Awhile back I purchased a 1863 that would not move forward or reverse. Turned out someone put a B/S engine oil filter on the transmission. Filter would not allow any oil to suck up to the pump. Changed the filter and it worked perfectly.

I agree with the above statements, make sure you use the correct filter. The genuine Cub Cadet one is possibly best, but the others listed above will also work just fine.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
