Bolt question
Probably a stupid question but I can't seem to locate anything in the manual; I have a 149 that came with the tiller gear box attached and I'd like to change out the hytran fluid before I attempt to start it. I took the gear box off and it appears several of the bolts are too long, does anyone know the length I need? Also if there is a resource out there on bolt specifics in general that you could shoot my way that would be great, several of them are pretty rusty and could stand to be replaced.
Thanks in advance guys |

If are you putting the tiller back on? If not, the 3 lower are 7/8" when using the draw bar and the other 2 are 3/4"
Go here and put in your model number and any part will have the fastener size for it listed. https://www.cubcadet.com/en_US/ari-partstream.html

Bolt size
Please be very careful when installing those cover bolts. Be extra careful that the bolts are not too long. If the bolts bottom out in that cast iron rear end before they snug up the plate, the cast iron WILL CRACK, and that is ugly ! Don’t ask.

That's what I was worried about. Those bolts currently in there felt like they bottomed out and I really didn't want to crack anything by continuing to tighten them. Thanks again guys

Great job not getting carried off and taking your time asking questions before you go further than you are supposed to and tear something up. That's why I love this forum.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
