3205 won’t stay running until REALLY warmed up
Hi,
It seemed to get it moving “ok” and now another problem. It starts right up with full choke, runs for a few like crap, and then dies. I screwed with the choke, and I can keep it running for a bit then dies. It starts right up again full choke. After about 15 minutes re-starting, suddenly runs fine no choke, even idles fine. For sure seems like a fuel problem. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any advice! |

intake leak. Maybe the gasket, or crack somewhere that expands with enough heat.

I had a similar problem and my fuel pump had failed. It made noise but pumped almost nothing. I bought a pump on the "bay" for 12 dollars and its been fine ever since. pull your fuel line to the carb and see what comes out if anything with the key in run. my pump used to just tick at a constant rate but the new one starts fast then slows as the pressure builds up. (2-3 seconds)

Thanks for the replies! Low 40’s so probably not ice. I’ll look into the other things (fuel pump is easiest).

I looked it up. It is aluminum, which is good. I am thinking intake gasket, like that was mentioned before.

I have a very similar problem with my 3165 with the Briggs engine. It starts right up with some choke. Then back the choke off and slightly increase the throttle. When I try to lift the blower it will kill. I can't even drive forward 5 feet to get the exhaust out of the garage without killing it a time or two. Once I do get it out of the garage, I walk away for a bit. I don't even try to use the blower the first 5 minutes. After that, it works just fine. I haven't really investigated yet. I just roll with it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
