How big is the dent in the first one? A small dent won't matter.

As for the drop in the bottom, it's likely the same glue they us to glue the element to the ends. Take a long screwdriver and try to move it, if it's hard, leave it and use it.

Thanks but I sent both of them back and got refunds. A bit of a pain, since the first rep I talked to assured me that they didn't need the first (dented) one back, but then I saw the RMA email and wondered about it. Turns out they DID want them back. By the time I talked to the 2nd rep (after deciding to return the one with the glue or whatever on the bottom), I had already listed the one with the dent on ebay (!) - thinking I can probably sell it. So, had to quick cancel the listing. Not sure what I would have told them had it sold in the midst of the conversation..."well, see, had it all ready to go but on the way to the mailbox the dang box slipped out of my grasp and wound up on the road, and then, uh, there was this truck....ya know?...." Upside was that it was already very well packaged and ready to ship in the event that I sold it. So now...after all that....I still don't have a filter. I'm sure either 'might' (always the magic word) have been ok to use, but I was especially leery of whatever gooey add-on lurked at the bottom of the 2nd filter waiting for hot oil baths. These things really should be pristine or at least with as few blemishes as possible. There are plenty more on ebay but I almost dread trying it a third time. I'm probably too hung up on using genuine cub cadet. If WIX is fine, I just have to find which model fits my 129.

The dent actually was pretty small...but just didn't feel comfortable about it. I think what turned me off the most was the condition of the boxes that both came in - totally unacceptable. As an ebay seller, I'm so careful about packaging, so when I get boxes or bags that look like someone's dog had a fun time with them, I always worry about what else might be wrong with whatever came inside.

I resemble that remark.
For the Purolator oil filters for the Kohler twins,
Briggs, JD's, My sisters (R.I.P.) HYUNDAI,
My Kubota WG600 in the 2182,
Hell even my 1999 Harley Road Glide
takes the same oil filter. I know there's many more
that use the same filter, some are just different lengths.

If I'm going to do a quick oil change I use the L's a few bucks cheaper. Most times I use the PL.
They also came out with a BOSS now,
that I use on my GMC Truck, not sure if
they are avail in the smaller filters. Just found
out about them when I went to pick a filter up for the truck.
The stock length filter is short, and only available in the L
last time I checked.
Purolator L35310 Wix 51056 both, 2.7" long, the stock length replacement
PL or L 10241 = 3.4" long I use these on my Tractors, HD, etc.
PL or L 20195 = 4.8" long if you have the room
The medium length PL/L 10241 is available most times at tractor supply.
I hope this helps someone out.
If you ever want to know if there's a
different/Better than you are using, here's 2
links for you to cross reference oil filters.
EDIT: Always double check the filter info, before taking my word for it.

For sure go with the WIX filters. I've never had a problem with them, good price for a good filter, and I've been lucky-the same size fits my truck, both small cars I used to have, and my lawn mowers, so I always have a spare. Can't remember the number off the top of my head, but I can go out and look it up in the morning.
Most autoparts stores carry them, I go through O'Reilly's because they have always been able to cross-reference my numbers from whatever filter was in the vehicle if not WIX, as well as the guys at my local store seem to know where to find the part or answer to my obscure question or machine even when it's not in the computer, as compared to some other stores I won't name (rhymes with hottocone) who, if the internal computer system says it, that's all they know. Yes that belt is what your truck needs (too narrow, broke in a week, no we won't take it back...
Sorry, getting into a rant!

EDIT: The WIX Filter Part Number is 51348XP

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
