Default PTO woe's

Hi
My name is Roy I found a few older cubs to work on as a hobby. Most fairly simple with no major issues. Then neighbor gave me his 1811 in pieces. I put it all back together and poof, wa-la, mowed with it 2 years now. In winter, out chains on it plowed snow. I have since bought 2 - 1872 super cubs one with a deck and one with back hoe an bucket. On it back hoe works just needs steering column changed or rebuild. Other one is being a pain when I switch the PTO on it kicks on then as soon as I let go of switch it stops I checked gap it is 17 Thousands, an 3.8 OHMs. On PTO I have cleaned ,most of connection on ends of wires to the point of maybe I may have one hooked up wrong. Any one help me out with a wiring diagram of 1872.

Thanks in advance
Roy

As a test, You can power the PTO with 12 volts to make sure the PTO is working Properly. If it is, I would start at the switch, Then start checking safety switches

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
