(Help) Kohler 14HP Rebuild
Good Morning all,
I think it’s time to possibly try and rebuild my grandfathers 14HP engine on his 1450. I am a little timid to proceed with doing so, that’s why I am posting this. Is there a good step by step video or list to show exactly how to do so? My grandfather has passed and and my grandmother gave me this tractor, and I would like to get this thing running again. I had it running last year but there was a knocking inside the engine, and I also had a metallic color in the motor oil, so I have not ran it since. I’ve called around local repair shops and no one is interested in repairing it or if they are they told me $1500.00. So, I’m just looking to see what the best route would be. I appreciate all and any information. |

First things, download the manual.
Next I recommend printing off pages 1.6 and 1.7 from said manual. This gives you all the measurements you'll need. Then watch Norms youtube videos, episodes 3, 4, 5, and 6. (episode 6 got moved farther down the line, but it is there) Here is a link to episode 3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGK5...Px0kb&index=19 And lastly check the forums, ask questions and have fun.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
