Sometimes you can take a flashlight & look in the gas tank & SEE the problem . It is hard to believe so much junk can get in there . If a dirty tank is the problem, I would replace the fuel line, too.

Thanks all. I did run a small amount of fuel out of the input line into a can to check flow from the tank. Amazon has a pump for $12. I also got a new filter, and small clamps.
I hope this is the end of it. Never again with an MTD made mower. It's been a disaster, and taking time from my other projects. Not surprising, I hopped on the Original and drove over to a buddy's hanger, and it ran perfect all the way. I'm thinking of changing the trans fluid on the Original. Not sure when it was changed last. I'll see if there's a fill plug on it somewhere before taking the drain out. |

Even though MTD products are not the greatest , any mower that has been neglected & sitting for a long time, can be a nightmare to repair !

OK, it runs, it mows. Last little items I've ordered the dash panel overlay as mine is all curled and cracked. Also a nice seat cover as my seat is pretty cracked and don't want to spend > $200 for a new seat.
Cuts well, and runs well now. I'm wondering if the idle rod is adjusted right. I can turn the idle screw down, but the idle speed doesn't decline below about 900. I'd like it to idle around 650. Batt is charging, and the fuel delivery is all good finally. I'll be selling it as fully refurbished in April, someone is going to get a real nice renovated mower. I still have a spare trans too, if anyone needs a hydro for a LT let me know. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
