My first was a 70 with a 42 in deck and rear fenders that My dad found for me when we were first married. I mowed about 1 1/2 acre of yard with it for about ten years and went through 4 7&8 hp engines until I found a k241 that was replaced because it kept seizing the exhaust valve. That tractor should have never had that large of a deck on it. I replaced the valve and guide and mowed with it for another 10 years before selling it to my brother when I bought a 109. He has a sickle bar mower on it and is still running it today. The K241 has never been apart except for my replacing the exh valve. I always regreted selling it but at least it is still in the family.

NOTHING!!
Still have it, a QL 1000, and it is my dedicated 59A chipper for lawn clean-up after windy days when I have a ton of sticks down from my ash trees. |

Sitting in pieces behind the shed. a 127 that my dad got when I was 12. It belonged to a school district, it was well kept. Used it until the mid 90's
The engine is going to go into my cub cadet 71 that my pop pop gave me in 1985. it has not run since the winter storm of 93 when it threw a rod.

My first Cub, a used 1440, was given to my oldest daughter, who always liked mowing our lawn with it. That was replaced with a used 1811 which shares lawn duty, hauling loam and plows. My favorite Cub which I will never sell.
Next purchased was a used 682 built the first week of 1982 and delivered to Farmer Supply Company in Westminister, MD. Completely identical to an IH built machine with the exception of the CCC Model/Serial Tag. Again, I would never sell it. The fourth machine is a used 1641 which will be given to my youngest daughter. The last Cub is a used 1872 which I purchased for a friend as a house warming gift who moved into a new house in PA with a big yard. After I spent over a year restoring it and the 50" deck with OEM parts, his wife bought a zero turn before I could deliver it this Spring. So the Super will be sold as it's just too big of a monster for my needs.

My 1st Cub Cadet was an Original given to me for free . I was helping a Buddy with his drywall business the 1st week I retired from the US Army. His customer had an Original sitting out Back which they mowed there Back yard with about 3 to 4 times a year and was now Hiring Landscapers. So I asked about it and he gave it to me. It stays In storage. Came very close to selling it to a MTD/Cub territory Man . Because another friend told him I would probably take $300 for it.
I hadn't even thought about selling it at the time. But On another Note, I grew Up next door to Late Donald Stevenson. He was The IH Cab cadet test engineer. I can remember last Narrow frame series In Pre Production, I was about 3 or 4 at the time. So I saw the Last Narrow frame series Before anyone else when it was Just painted, But No decals of what Became a 107 & 106. Got to sit on them as I couldn't reach the Pedals. So I wasn't allow to drive them around Both had electric lift on them . Not something Mr Stevenson was very thrilled with. He preferred the Hydraulic lift himself. My second Cub was a 1970 106. Purchased from a Late Neighbors Widow from where I grew Up in 2003 with a 42inch deck, Peco 5HP Bagger, QA36A thrower and a Bolens Frame weight and a Homemade folding wooded Cart. It Looked like an IH Cart. That Cub is still working. I remember as a Kid of about 6 when he Bought it. I was always so Jealous, because all we Had was a MTD Made Firestone 5HP Pull start rider 1 speed forward and 1 speed Reverse. So, it went to bed In the winter, and we used a Toro 2Cylce snow blower on our Gravel driveway. While the Original was the 1st Cub Purchased the 106 is Probably the one I would never sell . It's going to Probably be used for Tilling from now on with an IH Number 2 Tiller, I bought Fall 2021

My first Cub is an 1863 purchased new in spring of 1993. We had purchased an older rural home on 4 acres in December 1992. Mostly field grass. I wanted the largest mowing deck that would fit on the tractor, so 54". The dealer tried to sell me a 44" mower deck. He said he liked to match the mower size to the engine horsepower suggesting the 18 horsepower Kohler would not spin the big deck. In 1995, I purchased a snow blower for the 1863.
After a few years of dragging the snow blower around to store, mount and dismount, I purchased a used 1864 with 48" mower. Power steering, a big plus. The 1864 leaked almost everywhere. Disassembly and pressure wash to find the source of the fluids. Many seals, gaskets and days (weeks) later everything works as it should. Then on to wiring issues. As I'm now older, I appreciate the power steering of the 1864 so the 1863 mostly is parked in the heated basement. The 54" mower deck is primary mower except when I hit a stump last summer and cracked a spindle. Then the 48" mower was used as I rebuilt the broken spindle with used spindle housing, new bearings and seals. I have been pleased with the Cubs in my almost 30 years of ownership.

Still have it. Almost exactly two years ago I purchased my first Cub- a 1986 1811 which was cosmetically great, but had the dreaded governor gear failure. The old guy that owned it babied it that way for several years, because of the difficulty of the replacement. Bought it for $400, and then found a low hour M18 to replace the governor-less engine. Now, I'm finally doing something with the M18, and it will end up in a 1984 682.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
