125 motor question
Hello,
My friend got my grandpas old 125 running and mowing. She fires right up with no smoke or funny noises. When it is warm I get smoke from around the flywheel cover area. What could cause this? |

Leaky crank shaft seal soaking debris built up in the flywheel fins would be my first guess.
Any strange noises coming from that area might indicate grass screen rubbing on the flywheel cover. May be time for some house cleaning to see just what the issue is. |

I will have to see what’s up. No funny noises. May be coming from the crank case vent too.

I suspect smoke is from the breather..... If that's true, you either could have blowby or running too hot. Still, given the fact your tractor sat for years, do check under tins for clogged fins and nest...that alone can cause overheating.

I would second what BillyO says. I just rebuilt one that smoked like
crazy from the breather. It was certainly blowing oil by the rings. Ken |

I will do some checking for sure. How do you post pics on here? I’d like to share a couple.

I learned that if you post pics from your cell phone (I don’t have a computer), they have to be resized. 450x450 pixels max. You can download an app called Image Size. It will resize them for you. Then at the bottom of your message body is a link called “manage attachments”. Click there to choose from your photo library after you’ve resized your pic. Then close that window. The file name you chose will populate in the “manage attachments” space. Hope this helps you.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
