Momentary loss of fuel?
I was mowing with my 2155 the other day and it just sputtered and died like it ran out of gas. But tank was about 1/2 full. I was able to start it again, but only with the choke. So it definitely seems like it ran out of gas for a brief moment. Any ideas what the cause could be?
I'll note that I did a full engine tune up a couple months ago, including a fuel filter. |

Anytime that has happened to me It was crud in the tank or fuel lines
or pump. Stuff in the tank will get sucked into the flow and then when it shuts down the junk floats back to the bottom allowing you to fire up again. A complete clean on fuel system usually fixes it up for good. Ken |

Simple stuff first....make sure your gas tank is venting properly. Air needs to replace the fuel that is drawn from the tank.

Cleaning out the fuel tank and replacing the lines has been on my to-do list, guess it's time to get it done. That's about the only maintenance left to do on this tractor really I've done near everything else.
Fuel line seems to be hard to find locally, all the stores say it's out of stock and can't get any in months. |

Why don't you confirm that the fuel cap vent is clear as Billy-O suggested above.
That requires no stock and it costs nothing but a few minutes of time. If your problem re-occurs after you clean the tank and replace the fuel line, you will end up doing it anyway. |

Oh yeah, Ill do that as well. I've noticed that my gas cap doesn't have a gasket on it, does that matter at all? Not like these tanks gets turned sideways or anything where it would leak out the cap.

If it has a solenoid fuel shutoff it could be going bad. Just 2 weeks ago I had the same problem on a Craftsman Kohler and it was the solenoid.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
