Remove the 4 torx screws from the seat rails. You will need to slide it all the forward to remove the 2 in the back and then slide it all the way back and remove the 2 in the front.

Remove the forward, reverse, brake pedals on the right and also the differential lock pedal on the left.

Remove the left & right rubber floor board inserts. Under there you will find 2-3 bolts that hold the front section to the frame.

Remove the gas cap and intake screen under the steering wheel and the fender/floorboard should come off as one piece.

I would also replace the spring inside of the valve assembly also. It is part# 732-3059 from Cub Cadet. It is not listed in the parts section from Cub but that is a cyclops part number and the springs are the same.

Thank you very much for the reply Oak! I am very relieved to see that someone still glances over these older threads.

The two rear torx screws on the seat rails are apparently my problem. I assumed they were there, but my seat does not slide forward far enough for me to see them (which is why I was getting frustrated). Is there a trick to get it to slide forward more? If not, I guess I am going to have to force it and risk breaking it.

Yes, I had one or two that wouldn't slide either. Take some good penetrating oil like PB Blaster or Kroil and spray the slide rails real good and then sit in the seat and work it back and forth. It will take a little time but it will free up.

Blow the rails out with compressed air to remove any dirt and such before spraying oil.

Thank you for the advice Dark and Oak. I half-expected to be waiting for weeks to get an initial reply, but you all are on it like a rat on a cheeto around here, hehe. I appreciate the help very much, and hope I can contribute something back at some point!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
