Default 1864 service manual

I noticed there was oil on my deck the other day and found the power steering unit is leaking from the top where the steering shaft goes in. I purchased a seal kit for the steering unit. I have two 1864s and would like a service manual. I have searched and could only find the owners manual.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Here is the manual for the steering rebuild.

Did you get the Steiner kit?

The Cyclops service manual is #772-4166. I can email it to you but it should be on here somewhere.

Default 1864 service manual

thanks for the service manual for the power steering unit. I really had no luck with cub cadet dealers for parts but was told that John Deere used the same unit. so i got the seal kit from JD. I will look for the service manual also. thanks for your help.

Default 1864 Svc manual - try this

Tried to upload the manual but it exceeds the file size for this board.
Email me and I'll send it, or more likely give you a Google docs link to download it.

Or you can go here and put in 145-684-100 or whatever your tag reads.

I don't know the differences between an 1862 and an 1864 but the service manual at this link covers similarities....

Here's the overpriced Greenie boy kit.
https://www.greenpartstore.com/John-...-AM107078.html

You want this kit.

And just in case the springs go flying across the room you will need this kit.

Not that hard of a repair. Here is when I did my 1772.

Here is the best write-up of a PS rebuild i have seen.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
