I’ve learned where most of the solid objects are, the problem is when new ones pop up over the summer.

I wax the blade. It may be my perception, but I think the snow slides off the blade a little better. Silicone works also.
Forward speed when plowing is a balance between the joy of watching the snow curl off the blade, traction to push the wet heavy snow and the fear of unseen solid objects.
