New to me, LTX 1045 seat switch dilemma
OK so I just picked up a "nice" 2010 LTX 1045. For a "fake" Cub it's in pretty good condition
Got it home and did a little mowing to test it out. All seemed good. When I decided to clean it up the next day I lifted the seat to find the previous owner had taped a small flat rock to engage the seat switch which was then left laying loose under the seat. So I removed the rock and then out of curiosity I temporarily connected the two yellow wires together and grounded the green wires to see if that would perform the same function. It fired right up but then when I went to engage the (manual) PTO it killed the engine. So let's just put it all back the way it was, right? Put the unaltered wires back in the plug and connected it to the switch. It looks like this photo I found online: But instead of everything being as it was before, it now will not run when I manually engage the PTO. I checked the 20A fuse under the battery, which was good. What did I do?? Is there another fuse that doesn't show in the wiring diagram?

I could possibly help, but need more information. The LTX1045 Lawn Tractor was made from 2009-2013. In order to get the right Schematic/Wiring Diagram, I would need Factory Code. It starts with: 13Axxxxx. If you can supply this, we can get the correct diagram.

Yup, tractor starts and runs and drives around fine.
Nothing other than this seat switch was disabled by the previous owner (to my knowledge). I have not looked for other safety switches. As soon as I begin to engage the PTO lever it kills the engine. Model: 13RX91AT056 I took the switch off and will post what I find when I do the continuity tests. (update: with the switch out and without depressing the post I have continuity between the inner and outer pins only.) So pins 1&4 and 2&3 have continuity until the post is depressed. When pressed I have no continuity between any pins. I believe this is how the switch is designed. (DPST) double pole, single throw kinda thing. So since the switch is working, now I'm wondering what changed when I was messing with the wires.

I updated my reply above but here is the current state of affairs.
Theoretically, this is back to how I bought the tractor, when it was mowing just yesterday. Evening update: I really needed to get some mowing done so I had to disable the PTO safety by pulling the plug on the back of the dash as shown below. That little white plug under the dash connector disables the PTO safety. I would like to put all this back to how it was when it left the factory, but I still have no idea why moving the PTO lever was killing the engine.

Bought a new seat switch as that was the only thing I had touched. No change. Still will not engage PTO. No idea what I did. Strange.

Just to recap, the tractor runs fine, but when engaging the PTO Switch, it kills the engine??

Correct. Will not run with seat switch plugged in and PTO will not engage with the plug noted above connected to the ignition switch. Otherwise all is fine. Using now for a couple months this way.
