1650 - Classic Hydro Cork Gasket Repair Success
Dad's QL 1650 was staining the floor with hydro fluid. Did the split & replace the hydro to rear end cork gasket. It all went well with the no drain/tip up the rear end method. Couldn't believe how bad the gasket was. My only adds to the previous threads on this repair are that I had to put a couple of dabs of permatex on the new gasket to hold it in place on the hydro as I was working upside down for reassembly. I also had to remove the wheels to get a better look at the 6 bolt holes that hold the rear end in place when I was putting the tractor back together. Pictures are tractor split, failed gasket, cleaned up hydro & rear end, and new gasket in place. Happy New Year!

I've always used High-Tack gasket cement for jobs like these.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
