Default 782 rough start/won't run
782 with a series I, always ran great. End of mowing season began to run rough. Just replaced carburetor with a new one. Earlier in the season replaced entire ignition system due to no spark. It will smoke some, spit and die now, won’t stay running, thinking it must be the valves? It has a new fuel filter, fuel line and good battery.
Took fuel line off carb to verify fuel pump, works well. Reinstalled. Will start and run at idle, still not great but very poorly at full throttle, backfires and misses.

Compression shows a little above 80 on both sides. I pulled the heads, a lot of carbon buildup. Going to get everything cleaned up and heads resurfaced for when the new gaskets get in

If you used a China replacement carb, it might cause issues. I would rebuild your old one and see if anything improves.

Replaced existing original carburetor with a new carburetor from isavetractors. It’s a quality product. I’ve rebuilt the oem carb too many times to count over the years, figured I’d get a new one. I’m hoping new head gaskets and removing the carbon build up gets it running smoothly again.
