Adding power steering to my 782
For a while now I have been checking out the different threads on adding power steering to a 782 and what all needs to be change out and came to the realization that picking up a parts tractor would be more economical. So I found an 1864 parts tractor with a bad command motor. I know that the front axle needs to be swapped in and that this is going to raise the front 2 inches, but by adding taller tires in the rear would even out front to back. Also have read that using and early 1862 axle would keep the front at stock height. For those that have done this swap using an 1864 to draw parts from, how much of the hydraulic lines can I use. I have a dual spool valve mounted currently on the 782. I know the 1864 lines will not work on this spool valve.

Does anyone know if the early 1862 axle spindles fit into the 1864 axle.

I would suggest looking at the parts diagram for a 1572 that has PS. Most, but not all of the lines would be the same.
I am pretty sure that PS will work with the original 782 front axle.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
