1782 versus 2182 Fuel Efficiency
I was at a tractor show today and talked with a CC parts vendor. I told him I am looking for a 1772 or 1782 to mow 2+ acres. I mentioned wanting a Diesel because it is more fuel efficient. He said the 2182 Kubota engine is more fuel efficient than a comparable Kohler and similar to the Diesel. Liquid cooled engines are typically more efficient than air cooled but I question the Kubota gas versus Diesel efficiency.
Anyone have efficiency comparisons?

Not sure right now, but I can tell you in the spring. I picked up a 2182 a few weeks ago. My 1782 and 1772 and 1572’s are in the 1/2-3/4 gallon an hour, depending on how tall the grass is. My 2182 has a Haban so it will the first time I have used one.

Thanks for the initial replies. I tend to agree, the Diesel will be more fuel efficient. I wanted to hear from actual users. I will continue my search for a 1772 or 1782.
