I can tell you that I have a 1989 1050, and it steers much better than my 1986 1811, and all of the older tractors except my 782. My 782 has a column/box from a 1989 1811 and it steers like the 1050-very effortless. Seems like the boxes were updated and improved after 1986. All of my boxes have been adjusted, cleaned and greased, as have been the king pins.
